Kurokoma TaishidōHistory and culture

A hall housing a hanging scroll of Prince Shōtoku, a seventh-century figure known for the introduction of Buddhism. In the past it was difficult to bring the bodies of people who had passed away in winter to the temple, but it was said that borrowing the image and passing it over the corpse a few times would complete the funeral properly.
