Naeba, it is important to gather information on the route to take, as there are several options, and some of them involve multiple modes of transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This page is intended mainly for hikers who plan to thru-hike the Shin-etsu Trail using public transportation and will provide information on how to plan their route after the walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><br>If you hike Eastbound (from Mt. Madarao to Mt. Naeba)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><br>There are three main routes down from Mt. Naeba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2460 Return to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/p8KNWrKbee1HsFjR7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Koakasawa<\/a><\/strong> by round trip via section 10<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2461 Pass through the Haraigawa route, exit to the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u7953\u5ddd\u767b\u5c71\u53e3 (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/SBrXk45QZE23gatA9\" target=\"_blank\">Haraigawa trailhead<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2462 Pass through the Akayu route to <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u5c0f\u65e5\u6a4b (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/aXqWrTD48snTiTio8\" target=\"_blank\">Hohibashi<\/a><\/strong> (trailhead)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><br>\u2460 Return to Koakasawa by round trip via section 10<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>First, take the &#8220;Akiyama-go Share Cab&#8221;(*1) of Morimiya Kotsu from <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Koakasawa<\/span> and get off at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Midama<\/span>. Next, transfer to the &#8220;Midama line&#8221; of Minami Echigo Kanko Bus to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tsunan Yakuba-mae<\/span> (Town Hall). From there, a 40-minute cab ride will bring you to Echigo-Yuzawa Station.<br>Yuzawa Uonuma Taxi: TEL 025-784-2025<br>Asahi Taxi: TEL 025-784-3410<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Note: The section from the Haraigawa trailhead to Echigo-Yuzawa Station is a road section. Access on foot is possible, but not recommended due to the long distance and many dangers such as passing through narrow tunnels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><br>\u2462 Pass through the Akayu route to Kohibashi (trailhead)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>After descending the Akayu route for approximately 7.5 hours, you will reach Kohibashi (trailhead). From there, a 1.5-hour walk downhill will bring you to the Motohashi bus stop. Naeba to Mt. Madarao)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><br>There are a total of five routes down from Mt. Madarao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2460 Take the Kaedenoki trail to <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u30ec\u30b9\u30c8\u30cf\u30a6\u30b9\u30c1\u30ed\u30eb (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/bK1GfzFBuVFnPvFPA\" target=\"_blank\">Rest House Tyrol<\/a><\/strong> (trailhead)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2461 Take the Ooike route to the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u5927\u6c60\u767b\u5c71\u53e3 (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/31Xw7Jtuc4qcb2hT8\" target=\"_blank\">Ooike trailhead<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2462 Take the Arasebara route to the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u8352\u702c\u539f\u767b\u5c71\u53e3 (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/tECq4HtatrFWjHiQA\" target=\"_blank\">Arasebara trailhead<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2463 Take the Sugakawa route to the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u83c5\u5ddd\u767b\u5c71\u53e3 (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/GR9j7kbyoFVWV5AR6\" target=\"_blank\">Sugakawa trailhead<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u2464 Take the Furumi route to the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u53e4\u6d77\u767b\u5c71\u53e3 (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/pEkk4eT1kvyhVDocA\" target=\"_blank\">Furumi trailhead<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Of these, three routes \u2460, \u2462, and \u2463 provide access to public transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><br>\u2460 Take the Kaedenoki trail to Rest House Tyrol (trailhead)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>From the summit of Mt. Madarao, descend the Kaedenoki trail for less than one hour to reach the Rest House Tyrol. From there, walk up the hill for less than 10 minutes and board the &#8220;Madarao line&#8221;(*) of the Iiyama City&#8217;s Community Bus at the bus stop in front of the main entrance of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Madarao Kogen Hotel<\/span>, and you will arrive at JR Iiyama Station in about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u203b For the timetable of the Iiyama City&#8217;s Community Bus, please check &#8220;Madarao line&#8221; on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\u3053\u3061\u3089 (\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u30bf\u30d6\u3067\u958b\u304f)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.city.iiyama.nagano.jp\/soshiki\/kikakuzaisei\/54359\/public_traffic\/bus-all.htm\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> page (you can choose your preferred language on site &#8211; if you prefer English language, please select &#8220;\u82f1\u8a9e (English)&#8221; from the drop-down list).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><br>\u2462 Take the Arasebara route to the Arasebara trailhead<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>From the summit of Mt. Madarao, descend the trail heading southwest for about 50 minutes to reach the branch of Arasebara\/Sugakawa. From there, descend the Arasehara route for approximately one hour to reach the Arasehara trailhead. From the nearby bus stop &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u8352\u702c\u539f\u767b\u5c71\u9053\u5165\u308a\u53e3 (Arasehara trail entrance)<\/span>&#8220;, take the &#8220;Arasehara line&#8221;(*) of Nagaden Bus, which will take you to Kurohime Station on the Shinano Railway in about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u203b For the timetable of Arasebara line of Nagaden Bus, please check <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nagadenbus.co.jp\/local\/diagram\/diagram.php?route=SNM07\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><br>\u2463 Take the Sugakawa route to the Sugakawa trailhead<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>From the summit of Mt. Madarao, descend the trail heading southwest for about 50 minutes to reach the branch of Arasebara\/Sugakawa. From there, descend the Sugakawa route for approximately one hour to reach the Sugakawa trailhead.
